The St Kevin's/Waitaki Girls (St Taki) Under 18 side have booked their spot in their third successive final, after beating the Mid Canterbury Combined side 37-32 in last nights semi final.
Secondary School Girls rugby has gone from strength to strength in recent years, especially with the re-establishment of a senior Women's Rugby team (Waitaki Wahine) in North Otago. Local secondary schools Waitaki Girls High School and St Kevin's College currently field combined sides in both the U15 and U18 South Canterbury grades, with the U18 side remaining undefeated across the last two seasons and winning the 2021 and 2022 competitions.

The St Kevin's/Waitaki Girls (St Taki) Under 18 side have booked their spot in their third successive final, after beating the Mid Canterbury Combined side 37-32 in last nights semi final.
This season, there are more than 50 girls registered across the St Taki under-18 and under-15 teams..
St Taki has capped off an unbeaten season by winning the South Canterbury under-18 final. The combined St Kevin’s College and Waitaki Girls' High School girls rugby team beat Roncalli College 19-7 in Timaru last week to claim the title.
It's been a season to remember, in more ways than one, for the St Kevins/Waitaki Girls Under 18 side that wrapped up their season in Timaru last week.
