NORFU Statement
North Otago Rugby is delighted to confirm that the Union has made a significant financial commitment towards the proposed “Network Waitaki Event Centre”.
At the announcement, Chief Executive, Colin Jackson had the following to say, “Rugby sees the massive sporting and economic benefits that this new centre will provide for our community”
“With the perfect central South Island location that Oamaru offers, this indoor centre will potentially become a destination for sporting tournaments, conferences and all major events”.
NORFU Chairman, Warren Prescott added, “ The Rugby Union was heartened to hear Mayor, Gary Kircher, at a recent stakeholders’ meeting that the design, project management, build and fit out of the indoor centre would be kept in the hands of local contractors”
“Rugby, along with all potential users, enthusiastically looks forward to the project getting underway and a fit for purpose build that will be the envy of all other towns in New Zealand”
